- Intimate with both cultures
You
need to develop your skill in interpreting especially for speaking and your
knowledge your vocablury to make you’re easy and mastering the meaning of word
. But , the most important is your knowledge about both cultures (culture of
source language and target language) . It use to make you easier communicate
with audience and your interpereting can be understood by audience . Because
everylanguage has their way to communication . In interpreting , you must focus
to culture of target language not source language , because in interpreting you
just transfer the meaning not the structure . Your task is make the audience
the message that told by speaker .
- Flexibility
The more flexible you
stay, the more options you develop.watch and learn from other interpreters. Don’t have a closed mind; the other person
may have a better way.no two interpreting situations will be the same, so don’t
learn one pattern and try to use it in all circumstances.the goal is to
communicate and you have to do it in any way possible.remember, this is not
about you . So attempt to make you are ready when occur different situation ,
as an interpreter you must be flexible in however situation . He should be
flexible to learn new words and the phrases and he must be willing to watch and
learn from other interpreters.
- Objectivity
Objective of the
interpreter must be clear and he should not work in favor of any one and both
should be equal in the eyes of the interpreter. Don’t show your own feelings,
regardless of your opinion.
- Admit your mistakes
Given that you are
thoroughly prepared for the meeting the risk of making a mistake or not
understanding something is fairly low. However, we are all just human and it
can happen . So what to do if it does? If you make a mistake correct yourself
as soon as you realise. Just say “the interpreter would like to correct herself”
and give the correct version. That is not the end of the world and it is better
to do it rather than leave it unsaid. Make sure it does not happen too often
though that would just mean your knowledge in the given subject is not
sufficient.
If there is anything you do not understand, you can ask for it to be repeated or for an explanation or clarification. Again – it is better to do it this way rather than guess the meaning and look puzzled and unprofessional.

- Attitude of Professionalism
You need to have integrity
and personal commitment. You are
providing a service. Above all, respect your client.as a professional, support
your fellow interpreters. Don’t give advice unless asked. Never attempt to replace an interpreter of
lesser skill just because you could do a better job. Remember, that interpreter is doing the very
best he can. Give him your respect.
6.
Confidentiality
Another important characteristic is confidentiality. An
interpreter will often be in situations such as doctors’ appointments and legal
proceedings where highly sensitive information is discussed. The
interpreter cannot discuss the details of these proceedings with anyone.
- Punctuality and professional appearance
An interpreter must come before the
show is started , because you must re-check to MC about the agenda to prevent
you make a mistake . And your appearance also must be neat and clean .
